Firefighters fight flames on Springfield Drive

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. – Firefighters responded to a bedroom fire in a multi-unit apartment building off Cedargrove Circle Monday morning in the Cleveland Hill Fire District.

The fire was found around 9 am in a second-floor rear bedroom of apartment D at 20 Springfield Drive.  Arriving firefighters used two fire hoses to attack the fire.

“We held it to the two bedrooms on the second floor,”  said David Spahr, 1st Assistant Chief of the Cleveland Hill Fire Department.  “The fire was contained to the one apartment.”

Mr. Spahr said four residents were able to escape the fire okay.  Three pets were inside – a source tells us a cat died.

No cause was listed at this time. The chief says it is still under investigation.
