CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y – A mother duck and her ducklings waddled away unharmed after being rescued from a storm sewer Monday morning.
The rescue unfolded around 9 a.m. in front of the Law Officers of Brown Chiari on Walden Avenue.
A construction worker, who would only identify himself to Cheektowaga Chronicle as a Christian bricklayer, noticed the ducks in distress and called police.
“I did my good deed for the day. Saw a mother duck and all of her hatchlings fall down a sewer grate and I called the police,” the bricklayer said in a video shared with Cheektowaga Chronicle.
A Cheektowaga Police officer removed the grate and with the help of another good samaritan were able to rescue the ducklings.
This is the second time in two days a group of ducks were rescued by good samaritans. Ducklings were reunited with their mom after reportedly getting trapped in a sewer at the Walden Galleria around 1 p.m. Sunday.
