CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. – Local Communication Workers of America union members joined a nationwide strike against AT&T Friday.

The strike against AT&T started at 3 p.m.

Cheektowaga Chronicle observed a handful of employees inside the AT&T store at 4900 Transit Road walk off the job to join over two dozen other striking CWA members outside.

The weekend strike is being held across 36 states and the District of Columbia and involves an estimated 40,000 union members.

Union members want wage increases, no increase in healthcare contributions, and tighter job security protection from outsourcing.  Sales commissions for store employees are also a sticking point.
