CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. – First responders were called to a variety of incidents throughout the weekend. Here are some of the standout calls.

Friday, September 29: 201 Calls

1:56 am – A driver was pulled over on Barbara Place and arrested for narcotics. 

2:05 am – Firefighters from Rescue Hose were called to a home on Haller Avenue after a CO detector went off. It turned out to be a faulty detector.

2:30 am – Police were called to a home on Walden Avenue. They heard someone kicking at the side door of a neighbor’s house. It turned out it was a man trying to get into his girlfriend’s house.

6:38 am – A woman on Rogers Drive called police to say her landlord shut off the water for no reason. It turned out she didn’t have water because of a water main break down the street that county crews were working on. 

7:28 am – South Line Firefighters were called to an area near the football field of Stiglmeier Park. A man was down in the area. He was taken to ECMC for a routine emergency.

9:23 am – Rescue Hose firefighters were called to help a woman on Freda Avenue. A woman was on oxygen and her power went out.

9:33 am – A person was arrested for driving without a license after being pulled over on Harlem Road.

10:04 am – A car break-in was reported on Lucy Lane.

10:33 am – Pine Hill firefighters were called out to an alarm at the Tim Horton’s on Pine Ridge. It turned out to be burnt food.

10:51 am – A garage was broken into on Loretto Drive and landscaping equipment was taken. 

11:01 am – A call came in from Fontaine Drive. Someone broke the lock on the passenger side of a van and stole contracting equipment, including a chainsaw.

12:13 pm – Two people were taken to Buffalo Mercy and one person was taken to St. Joes after a crash between two vehicles on Union Road just south of Losson.

12:24 pm – A call came in from someone who found a duffle bag next to where her car was parked on Santin Drive. The bag had nursing supplies in it. It was taken back to police HQ.

1:12 pm – Police reports were filed after a principal at Cleveland Hill found several phones with pornography on them.

2:09 pm – Cleveland Hill firefighters were called to Elm Court for a CO detector going off. It turned out to be a faulty detector.

4:42 pm – Three people reporting CO symptoms called from Jenny Lane. National Fuel and Hy-View firefighters were called to the scene. There was no high reading. The furnace was locked out from a week ago.

4:50 pm – A man was arrested for shoplifting from Walmart on Walden.

4:51 pm – Cleveland Hill firefighters were called to Aurora Drive after a hallway smoke alarm went off. It turned out it was set off by burnt food.

5:24 pm – An officer on patrol noticed a group of girls doing homework at the shelter in Nob Hill Park. Everything was in order.

5:56 pm – A driver was pulled over on Harlem Road and arrested for narcotics. The driver also had a warrant out from the Erie County Sheriff’s Office.

6:01 pm – Cleveland Hill firefighters were called out to Cedar Road after a CO detector went off. It turned out to be a faulty detector.

6:12 pm – A driver was pulled over for traffic violations and arrested on William Street. She also had a warrant out of Buffalo.

6:23 pm – Forks firefighters were called to Pizza Hut on Union Road after a fire alarm went off. There was no fire. There appears to be an issue with the alarm system.

6:29 pm – A police report was filed after it looks like $1,500 was taken from someone living at Elderwood Health Care. 

8:20 pm – A call came in from Garden Gate on Union Road. A woman said her keys and car were taken. The call was tracked down from the nursing home. It turns out friends moved her car, and she thought it was stolen at first. It was a joke gone bad.

8:59 pm – A neighbor on Pheasant Lane called police because she noticed a group of kids heading into a nearby house. They thought an underage drinking party was going on. It just turned out to be friends hanging out at a house with parents around. 

9:44 pm – A woman was pulled over on Union Road and arrested for driving without registration.

10:04 pm – A police report was filed after a person who works at the mall walked out to their car and found it smashed up in a ramp at the Galleria.

10:13 pm – A man was arrested for stealing pallets from the back of a warehouse on Union Road.

11:01 pm – Two men were arrested for allegedly stealing parts off cars at M&M U Pull It and Mark’s Auto Parts.

Saturday, September 30: 171 Calls

12:43 am – A female prisoner in the police cell block was checked out by an ambulance crew after she complained of chest pains.  The woman was not transported to a hospital.

12:45 am – The highway department was messaged alerted them to a large tree limb the fell and was blocking the roadway near 21 Birkdale Road.

1:02 am – A drunken man was trying to buy alcohol from the Noco gas station at 1199 French Road.  The clerk refused to sell it to him and he refused to leave.  The police told the man he would be arrested is if he returned to the store.  At 2:43 am he returned and was arrested and charged with trespass and unlawful possession of marijuana.

1:05 am – The wind knocked over a porta-potty near the Town Park Pool parking lot.

1:10 am – A man and women were arrested after they dinned and dashed from the Denny’s on Genesee Street.  Their Chrysler Town and Country was towed.

2:54 am – Around 30 people were ejected from a loud party at the Collegiate Village Apartments.

6:07 am – Rescue Hose firefighters responded to a report of smoke in an apartment at 1270 Walden Avenue.  The cause was overcooked food.  Firefighters ventilated the smoke from the apartment and the stove was removed.  Rescue was assisted by South Line, Pine Hill, and Sloan firefighters.

7:26 am – A driver was arrested for driving without a license during a traffic stop on Eggert Road.  Their Jeep was towed by Suburban.

8:04 am – A 2008 or 2009 white Dodge crashed into a fence on Crocker Street and took off.

8:37 am – A man was arrested on Jeffrey Drive after the police investigated a claim that he threatened to kill his mom.  The son was drinking with his friends all night downstairs and she asked them to leave. That’s when the son got mad.

9:44 am – A driver was arrested near 2600 Harlem Road for driving without a license.  The car was towed.

10:52 am – A resident, four blocks away on Joseph Street, called the police to complain about excessive noise coming from a game at Maryvale Primary.  The caller said the game’s play by play was being amplified.  A police officer told dispatchers that over 200 people were at the game, but the noise was not excessive.

10:59 am – A person was arrested for violating a stay away order on Davidson Drive.

12:35 pm – A woman on E. Grand Boulevard called police to say she heard three gunshots behind her house.  The police officer said it was from a funeral in a nearby cemetery.

12:43 pm – Bellevue firefighters and an ambulance crew checked out three people after a two car crash on the 2500 block of Union Road.  The victims were not transported to the hospital.

1:05 pm – A man was arrested for shoplifting at Walden Galleria.

1:17 pm – The police arrested a male for shoplifting at the Thruway Plaza Tops Market.  He fled in a car was stopped by police on Walden Avenue.  It was discovered that he had three Buffalo warrants and was driving without a license.

1:53 pm – A man in the police cell block who used Heroin earlier in the day was not feeling well.  An ambulance crew checked out the man.

2:53 pm – U-Crest firefighters and AMR ambulance attended to a routine medical call at L’Occitane en Provence inside the Walden Galleria.

3:58 pm – A man was arrested for smashing out the car windows of a Grand Prix with a baseball bat on Gardenvillage Drive.  A domestic incident report was filed.

6:47 pm – An ambulance was called to police headquarters after a woman in lockup said she was having trouble swallowing. She claimed she was choked. She was checked out and remained in lock up.

7:03 pm – Forks firefighters were called to Walmart. They were called to help a cancer patient who fell down in the men’s room. He was taken to Buffalo General by ambulance.

7:52 pm – U-Crest firefighters were called to Texas Roadhouse. The fire alarm was set off by someone vaping in the bathroom.

8:08 pm – A man was arrested for shoplifting from the Galleria.

8:13 pm – South Line firefighters were called to check out a CO detector on Castlewood Drive. It turned out to be a faulty detector.

8:22 pm – Two people playing Pokemon in Nokomis Park were advised that the park was closed.

9:31 pm – A woman was arrested for shoplifting from Walmart.

9:41 pm – Police were called to House of Horrors and Haunted Catacombs. A couple was being disorderly in the parking lot and not leaving. A lot of people were running around when police got to the scene. The caller couldn’t make up their mind on whether or not they wanted police to clear the scene. Police also ticketed cars that were triple-parked in the lot. 

Sunday, October 1: 138 Calls

12:47 am – A call about a man in a suspicious vehicle came in from Roycroft Boulevard. The caller was upset because the man allegedly urinated on his lawn. Police found the man in the car. He had an argument with his girlfriend and had a flat tire.

12:47 am – A driver was pulled over on Eggert Road and arrested for marijuana possession. 

1:23 am – Police were called to the Maryvale schools parking lot. A group of kids were riding on the hood of an SUV. The kids were advised to go home.

1:32 am – Officers were called to Tryst Gentlemen’s Club on Aero Drive. A woman wanted her money back for chicken wings and started an issue with security guards. She was arrested for criminal impersonation. 

2:12 am – U-Crest firefighters were called to outside of Crabapples on Genesee Street. A man fell and had a head injury outside. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

2:26 am – A woman dressed all in white took off after a crash on Union Road. The ghostly “woman in white” was found by Fowlers and arrested for DWI. 

3:30 am – A car was pulled over on Genesee Street and two people were arrested for narcotics.

5:29 am – The water authority was notified about a water main break on Gates Street.

6:00 am – A man called from William Street. He said there was another man standing on the corner saying he had a broken back. He was taken to ECMC by ambulance.

7:50 am – Bellevue firefighters were called out to Como Park Boulevard after a fire alarm went off. It was set off by overcooked food.

10:19 am – Hy-View firefighters were called to Biscayne Drive. A woman turned on her furnace the day before and now she and her daughter feel ill. There was no measurable CO. Both women were checked out by an ambulance crew.

10:53 am – A man was arrested for begging from money outside of Aldi’s on Walden Avenue.

11:14 am – A man on E. Melcourt Drive reported a car break-in.

11:17 am – A man and woman were fighting on the parking ramp between Dick’s and Lord and Taylor at the Galleria. Police found two men and a woman in the vehicle. Two people were arrested for marijuana possession. The two people arrested also had warrants out of Buffalo and Cheektowaga.

12:00 pm – A police report was filed after someone on Diane Drive said their car was egged overnight.

12:18 pm – A wallet was returned to its owner after it was found in the bushes off of Genesee Street.

12:40 pm – A couple car break-ins were reported on David Avenue.

2:21 pm – A car was pulled over on E. Delavan Avenue. The driver was arrested for driving without a license. Both people in the car were arrested for marijuana possession. 

2:23 pm – Three appearance tickets were given to separate houses in Town for unlicensed dogs.

2:43 pm – Doyle firefighters were called to a one-car rollover at the I-190 South to the I-90 East. The driver got themselves out of the vehicle before emergency crews arrived to the scene. They were evaluated by an ambulance crew.

2:58 pm – An aunt called police to report her niece was stealing from her. When officers got to the house the aunt explained that her niece has Down’s Syndrome and she just wanted police to tell her about the rights and wrongs of stealing.

3:51 pm – An ambulance was called to the Galleria for a routine medical issue.

3:55 pm – Cleveland Hill firefighters were called to check out a CO detector going off on Campbell Road. It turned out to be a faulty detector.

4:15 pm – A man was taken to St. Joes by ambulance after falling in a parking ramp at the Galleria.

5:30 pm – Cleveland Hill firefighters and an ambulance crew were called out to a routine medical issue involving a teenager on Community Drive. The teen was taken to Buffalo General.

9:47 pm – A man was arrested for shoplifting from Walmart.

10:03 pm – U-Crest firefighters were called to a ramp at the Galleria. A man possibly fractured his leg after being struck by a car. He was taken to St. Joes by ambulance.

10:30 pm – A man was reportedly running down Halstead Avenue with an ax. The ax man told police he was the victim of a car break-in and he was just chasing after the suspect. Police were unable to track down the car popper.

10:38 pm – A GPS was reported stolen from a car on Park Edge Drive.
