CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. – Incidents across the Town kept first responders busy this weekend. Here are some of the incidents.
Friday, September 15: 186 Calls
12:34 am – A police report was filed after a bartender stopped the attempted theft of shingles from an elderly homeowner’s property on Reiman Street.
3:22 am – A woman on Westbrook Drive called police because she thought someone broke into her house. The basement window was broken and she heard someone inside the house. Police found a car outside the house was gone through. It turns out the husband admitted to breaking the window and took off from the property. He was charged with resisting arrest and a domestic incident report was filed.
8:12 am – A domestic incident report was filed on Harlem Road after a father said his daughter tried to burn the house down when she put metal and paper in the microwave before leaving the house.
10:37 am – The Kwik Fill on Harlem Road keeps getting harassing phone calls from a customer who is banned from the store. Employees were advised by police.
11:05 am – Police were called to check on a woman at the bus stop on Ellwood Place. A passerby said the woman was screaming at traffic. She told police that wasn’t true and she was just waiting for her bus.
12:32 pm – A man was caught stealing shirts from Walmart. The suspect’s car was tracked down near Borden. The man took off and a chase was called off by police. Buffalo Police were asked to check out an address in the City.
1:25 pm – A police report was filed after two snowblowers were stolen from Temple Baptist Church on Cleveland Drive.
1:59 pm – A police report was filed after someone went into Town Court to pay a ticket. He said he came out and said both his plates were taken from his vehicle.
2:50 pm – A man was taken to ECMC after jumping out of a car on Maryvale Drive. He apparently was arguing with a woman in the car and jumped out. He was taken to the hospital to get a head injury checked out. A domestic incident report was filed.
4:24 pm – A crash was reported between a school bus and a car on Avery Place. A vehicle reportedly backed into a still bus. The bus company dispatchers required an ambulance to go to the scene to check out a dozen kids. No one was injured. The principal of Union East went out to the scene and called parents about the incident.
5:43 pm – Two people were arrested after a couple kids went to Children’s Hospital and reported being jumped on Reiman Street.
6:07 pm – U-Crest firefighters were called to a house on Kilbourne Road by an alarm company. The fire alarm was set off by overcooked food.
6:51 pm – A drunk woman was arrested on John Brian Lane after she punched a male who walked through the door. A domestic incident report was filed.
7:12 pm – A driver was pulled over and arrested for driving without a license on Union Road. The driver also had warrants out of Buffalo and Tonawanda.
7:51 pm – A police report was filed after a garbage can fire was extinguished in Cedargrove Park.
8:04 pm – Narcotics were found in a SMART car on Fawn Court after a call came in about the driver of the vehicle being all over the road on William Street.
9:07 pm – A man was taken to St. Joes to be checked out after being struck in the head on Ellicott Road. A police report was filed for an industrial accident.
9:18 pm – Police were called to Calderwood Drive because a woman’s son kept yelling at her – trying to get money for drugs.
9:36 pm – Two women were arrested for shoplifting from the Galleria.
9:42 pm – Hy-View firefighters were called to the Tryst Gentlemen’s Club on Aero Drive after a fire alarm went off. It turns out the system was set off by hair products. The alarm was reset.
9:49 pm – A 17-year-old was arrested for shoplifting from the Galleria.
9:53 pm – Kids on Standard Parkway were advised by police after a call came in reporting they were shooting off fireworks.
10:06 pm – A group of ten young teens were out front of a property on Trent Square, touching cars. The kids were advised to play somewhere else.
10:17 pm – One person was taken to ECMC after a crash between two cars on William Street.
Saturday, September 16: 164 Calls
2:25 am – A couple was pulled over and positively ID’d after being accused of stealing food items from the store at Jim’s Truck Stop.
2:45 am – Three men were caught looking in vehicles on McNaughton Avenue. One of the men was arrested for false personation and having burglary tools.
4:03 am – A police report was filed after a man claimed he was beaten up in the parking lot of the 33 Speakeasy. The bar said an unwanted patron was removed.
10:12 am – Police were called to Bright Street after a man said his dog was bitten by another dog.
10:47 am – A police report was filed after an iPad was stolen from a vehicle on Harlem Road.
10:54 am – One person was taken to St. Joe’s and another person was taken to Buffalo General after a crash on Harlem Road near Town Park.
12:12 pm – Rescue Hose and Pine Hill firefighters were called out to a dumpster fire on Eggert Road. The flames were put out by Buffalo firefighters.
2:53 pm – The dog warden was called to Towers Boulevard. A couple dogs were outside barking for the past two days, and the owner was outside with earplugs. The caller was concerned that the dogs were hurt.
4:33 pm – An ambulance broke down on Union Road near Consumer Square. A tow truck was called to the scene.
4:55 pm – A 4-year-old was found running around Broadway all alone. It turns out the kid snuck out on his 12-year-old brother who was watching him while Grandma was at the store.
5:06 pm – Doyle firefighters were called to check out a grill fire on Vern Lane. The gas was shut off to the grill and the fire went out.
5:25 pm – Forks firefighters and an ambulance were called to Holiday Rinks to check out a toddler having a seizure in a locker room. The little girl was taken to Children’s Hospital.
6:16 pm – A woman on French Road called to complain that her upstairs neighbor was throwing trash out the window. It turns out the upstairs is being re-done and the people in the upper apartment have a dumpster. Everyone was advised.
6:21 pm – A call came in from a woman who said her boyfriend left for the sale at Niagara Hobby around 1:00 pm, and did not make it home. 20 minutes after the call, he walked through the door of their house.
6:49 pm – Two people were arrested for narcotics after their vehicle was pulled over on the I-90.
7:28 pm – Police were called to Boll Road. A man came to the house and threatened to kill the caller, accusing the caller of killing his dog. Everyone was advised by police.
7:48 pm – Doyle firefighters and ambulance crews were called to Williamstowne Apartments. Several people showed elevated CO levels. Firefighters did not find any readings in the building.
8:59 pm – Seven kids were spotted looking into vehicles with flashlights on Woodell Avenue. They turned out to be kids from a nearby birthday party. They were hanging out near their Aunt’s car.
10:23 pm – A man was arrested for shoplifting from Walmart.
Sunday, September 17: 128 Calls
1:53 am – A man was arrested after the police investigated a suspicious person on Kemp Avenue
2:49 am – Cheektowaga assisted Buffalo Police with a large group outside the Ozone bar on Genesee Street.
2:58 am – A party breaking up from Littlefield Avenue caused a disturbance on Randolph Avenue. A woman was accused of urinating on the complainant’s car.
4:10 am – A driver was arrested for drunk driving along Genesee Street.
4:38 am – A white Buick was impounded from an address on Hempstead Avenue in Buffalo after it was involved in two hit & run incidents on Aero Drive and Holtz Road.
7:33 am – A suspicious person sitting inside a stone statue on the ground of Villa Maria was arrested on a Lancaster warrant.
8:23 am – A parking ticket was issued to a red Cruze on Loxley Road after a woman in a wheelchair had difficulty getting by.
9:04 am – A $50 counterfeit bill was given to a cab driver on Alaska Street. The suspect would not answer the door but was peeking out the window.
10:42 am – A car window was smashed in the parking lot of the Comfort Inn on Dingens Street.
11:01 am – A driver was arrested for false impersonation and a Buffalo warrant during a traffic stop at 2320 Genesee Street. A young girl was taken to an address on Roma Avenue in Buffalo.
12:34 pm – A police report was filed after a resident on Rosemead Lane told the police that his lawn was damaged. The resident thinks a neighbor did it after they called the building inspector on them.
1:21 pm – A woman on Montfort Drive received a check for $2,950 after applying online for a job.
1:23 pm – A driver was arrested on Genesee Street for driving a GMC Yukon without a valid inspection or a license. The vehicle was towed.
1:35 pm – A woman on Euclid Avenue called the police after her father broke into her apartment and stole electronics.
3:15 pm – A dog from Depew was booked into the dog pound.
3:34 pm – Two girls were taken home to their parents after they were found at Maryvale Schools hitting the building with sticks and trying to get into the school.
4:20 pm – A pastor on Old Maryvale Drive was notified after two church members got into a physical fight after services.
5:08 pm – A car on Joanne Lane was towed for a parking violation.
5:26 pm – A motorcycle was tipped over on Ridge Park Avenue. A male was taken to an address on Alexander Avenue.
5:50 pm – A vehicle was impounded after it would not pull over during a traffic stop. The vehicle was found on Cleveland Drive.
6:03 pm – A police report for criminal mischief was filed after a man found damage to his shed and ’78 Mercedes Benz on the 2700 block of Union Road.
6:15 pm – South Line firefighters attended to a CO detector activation on Zeller Lane. Crews found a faulty stove in the basement.
7:44 pm – The police mediated a customer issue at Millers Towing. Two people were taking issue with the towing fees and were fiving the attended a hard time and filming him.
8:12 pm – A second dog from Depew was booked into the dog pound.
8:41 pm – At least three disorderly girls were taken home to their parents after a disturbance on Gierlach Street.
11:42 pm – A patient flown to the Mercy Flight base by Star Flight was transported by an AMR ambulance to South Buffalo Mercy.
