CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. – First responders were called out to 200 different calls on August 2. Here are some of the calls.
12:02 am – One person was arrested after a road rage incident on Union Road that ended up in the Gardenvillage Plaza lot. One of the drivers was arrested for criminal mischief.
12:05 am – Someone from Applebees on Walden called to complain about a man in front of the To Go entrance asking for money. The man left and went across the street to McDonald’s. He was gone by the time police got there.
12:26 am – Police were called by a person on Beale Avenue. They were concerned about an elderly neighbor. His door was open and that was unusual. Everything was in order when police went to check on the man.
1:13 am – A police report was filed for a natural death on Mildred Drive.
1:32 am – U-Crest firefighters were called out twice (once at 1:30, and then again at 3:30) to check out an alarm at Watch Me Grow Daycare on Union Road. Both times it ended up being an issue with the alarm.
1:45 am – A car with Pennsylvania plates was pulled over on William Street and three people were arrested for marijuana possession. A person from another car at the scene with Tennesee Plates was arrested for disorderly conduct.
3:57 am – Lovers in a car in Raymond Park were advised to be on their way.
4:09 am – Someone on Century Road called police over loud music. It turned out the owner of a car forgot to turn off their radio. It was turned off and the owner was advised.
4:17 am – Police noticed a porta potty was tipped over in Dingens Park.
4:31 am – A driver was pulled over on Walden Avenue. They were arrested because they were driving without registration and had possession of a controlled substance.
5:28 am – A porta potty was tipped over at Town Park and a soccer net was knocked over. No one was around at the time. A police report was filed and security footage spotted three guys knocking the items over around 9:45 pm the night before.
6:19 am – A police report was filed for a natural death on Kennedy Road.
7:48 am – An accident form was filled out by police after a garbage truck hit a car on St. Mary’s Street.
8:01 am – A woman wanted police to check on a friend on Eileen Drive. She hadn’t been able to get in touch with him. It turned out the man was locked up in the Erie County Holding Center.
8:12 am – A call came in from National Fuel about a CO detector going off on Creekside Drive. Doyle firefighters checked the scene out. There was a low battery in the detector.
9:00 am – One person was taken to the VA by ambulance to be checked out for chest pains after a car crash on William Street.
9:44 am – Doyle firefighters, police, and an ambulance were called to the Stanley Falk School on Rossler Avenue to deal with a medical emergency. A teenage girl was taken to ECMC.
11:09 am – Police were called to Pinewood Terrace after a daughter broke into her parent’s house. She was arrested and a domestic incident report was filed.
11:22 am – Sloan firefighters put out a grass fire at the Sloan Reservoir.
11:26 am – A man was arrested for menacing at 7-Eleven on French Road. He told a man at the store he wants to shoot him. A gun was not spotted but a knife was found on the suspect and taken away by police.
12:08 pm – South Line firefighters were called to John Brian Lane after a child got their foot stuck in the crib.
12:45 pm – A police report was filed after a woman said her bag full of clothes was stolen while she was eating at the food court of the Galleria.
1:50 pm – Three women were arrested for shoplifting at the Walmart on Walden.
2:12 pm – A police report was filed after a man came in and said a woman used his credit card without permission to buy stuff from Walmart.
2:14 pm – U-Crest firefighters were called to the scene of a crash on Genesee Street. NFTA Police and the Harris Hill fire chief were on the scene and attending to the patients. Three patients signed off on further treatment. One woman was taken to the airport by police. Speedy Dry was put down at the scene.
2:49 pm – Police advised neighbors at Edgebrook to stay away from each other after they were called to deal with a dispute.
3:00 pm – Rescue Hose firefighters were called out to Thruway Plaza after an 89-year-old woman fell and hit her head in the parking lot. She was taken to St. Joes by ambulance.
3:18 pm – A woman on Haley Lane says she left her front door open for air. She was home all day. Now her purse is gone. A police report was filed for burglary.
3:21 pm – An issue on Brentwood Drive was called in. Construction equipment is being kept near the bridge. Over the last few days, materials and tools were thrown into the creek and someone smashed the windows on the excavator in.
3:42 pm – A man and woman were arrested for shoplifting at the Galleria.
3:45 pm – An ambulance was called to police headquarters. A woman in the cell block was pregnant, cramping, and leaking amniotic fluid. She was checked out by the ambulance crew and signed off on further treatment.
3:56 pm – Two women were arrested for shoplifting at Walmart on Walden.
4:55 pm – A call came in reporting seven or eight kids at Griffith Park being unruly and swearing. All the kids were advised by police.
5:10 pm – Rescue Hose firefighters were called to the parking lot of Tops at Thruway Plaza. A 74-year-old woman was having trouble breathing. Police were called to the scene to check everything out because a child was the back of the car without a car seat. The mother said they took the bus to the store and they are just waiting in the car while getting checked out for the medical emergency. The woman was checked out by crews and signed off on further treatment.
5:57 pm – Cleveland Hill firefighters were called to a porch fire on Bert Road. It ended up that the small (possibly mulch) fire was quickly put out.
6:09 pm – One person was checked out for a possible head injury after a crash on Pine Ridge Road. The person signed off on further treatment.
6:10 pm – A man at Williamstowne Apartments wanted to admit himself to ECMC. He said he was drinking all day and wanted to go to the hospital. He was taken there by ambulance.
6:13 pm – A police report was filed. A woman at Little Angels Day Care on Harlem Road said her wallet was missing from her purse.
6:34 pm – Police were called to Williamstowne Apartments. A bat was in the building. The bat was released back into the wild.
7:10 pm – U-Crest firefighters were called to a home on Evergreen Place after a 90-year-old woman fell on her back porch and needed help back up. She was assisted by firefighters back into the house.
7:23 pm – A person called police to check on a man who seemed to be passed out in a car in the Galleria parking lot. The man was snoring and there was puke outside of the car. The man appeared drunk. He was picked up by his girlfriend and his car was left in the lot.
8:40 pm – A group of about seven people did not want to pay for their meal at Zhang’s Buffet on Union Road. The customer then called saying they needed to talk to police about hair in the food. The customers ended up paying and leaving.
9:11 pm – An officer noticed a disturbance between two people on Walden Avenue. The two lovers were sent on their way.
9:31 pm – A man was arrested and a domestic incident report was filed. A woman on Harlem Road called police saying her husband was trying to beat her up. She went outside and her husband followed her. Police found the man in the front yard and the woman in the back when they arrived.
10:58 pm – Police noticed a suspicious person in a vehicle on Alexander Avenue. They were looking for their lost cat. They live on Wildy.
