Cheektowaga Police Blotter: Tuesday, May 16, 2017

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. – The Cheektowaga Police Department attended to 151 calls on Tuesday, May 16, 2017. The following is a brief report of some of the calls they received according to the Cheektowaga Police blotter.

  • 12:22 am – Cleveland Hill firefighters were called out to Primrose Drive for an overdose call. A 30-year-old man was taken to ECMC for treatment. 
  • 12:49 am – Cleveland Hill firefighters were called out to Greenway Road because a man was unresponsive in his home. The man was taken to ECMC. 
  • 1:02 am – A neighbor on Nokomis Parkway called police because a car’s light was on in the neighborhood. It turned out the dome light on a car was left on by accident. 
  • 2:21 am – A driver was pulled over on Cayuga Road. They were arrested for drunk driving. 
  • 7:19 am – Police called to Gardenvillage Drive. Someone found their vehicle spray painted. A police report was filed for criminal mischief. Police returned a couple hours later because the caller found the spray paint can in question. A shed was also found to be spray painted.
  • 8:41 am – Officers were asked to perform a checkpoint on Ming Court. The family was gathered for a funeral at that time, and the executor of the estate was worried her brother would try to take items from the home during the funeral. 
  • 9:56 am – Police were called multiple times to deal with a neighbor dispute on Penwood Drive. A neighbor called about an oversized truck parked on the street. The owner moved it into the driveway before officers arrived. The neighbor who complained was also upset about the backyard and fence of the neighbor they called about. The issue was referred to the building inspector. But, it turns out the truck was too large for the residential street, and the owner was told to move it. 
  • 11:10 am – A caller was concerned they saw a vehicle hit someone on a bike along Walden Galleria. They saw a mangled bike, and a truck pulled over on the road next to it. (Not the actual accident.) No person or bike was found at the scene by an officer.
  • 11:15 am – A woman on Campbell Road called police because her niece moved into her home without permission. The niece says she moved in to help her aunt who is dealing with memory issues. Police told the niece to take her stuff out of the home and get something in writing signed by the aunt about moving into the house.
  • 12:07 pm – A caller says there is a man at a house on Harris Court the owner does not want on location. The homeowner’s daughter is home sick, and the man is at the house. The homeowner came back to the house, and one man was arrested.
  • 3:09 pm – A call came in from a neighbor complaining about employees of a call center on Genesee Street smoking marijuana behind the building regularly. No one was found outside when police arrived. But a neighbor near the building did say employees are out there regularly. 
  • 3:17 pm – A woman was arrested for shoplifting at the Rite Aid at Harlem and Genesee Street.
  • 3:21 pm – A Ken-Ton school bus was spotted in the parking lot of the library on Losson Road. It turns out the driver was having an issue with a student. The student was talked back into their seat, and the bus went on its way. 
  • 3:29 pm – A mother on Creekside Drive called to say her 12-year-old son was beat up by another boy, and has a head injury. The kid suspected of beating up the other one is outside the house, and answered police questions. He was taken home and spoken to along with his parents. The victim was checked out and signed off by the EMS crew. A police report was filed on the incident. 
  • 3:34 pm – A call came in from Hedwig Avenue. A person said a grey van drove up, and tried to get their daughter into the van. The van was last seen on Walden heading into the city from Hedwig. There is video of the van in question, and a police report was filed. 
  • 3:55 pm – Police called to a house on Pinehurst Avenue. There was a fight over a dead person’s belongings. The roommate says their former roommate’s car and checks were stolen. Neither of the people on the scene have power of attorney. Everyone was advised by police about the situation. 
  • 3:59 pm – A woman says she and her dog were attacked by a pitbull on Princeton Court. The case was referred to the animal control officer. 
  • 4:04 pm – A person on Nugget Drive called to report a burglary. It looks like someone got into the home through a window and took most of the belongings out. The caller just got home after a month in jail. 
  • 4:08 pm – A pedestrian was hit by a car near William and Alaska. The victim was taken to St. Joe’s to be checked out, and the fire chief brought the victim’s bicycle back home. 
  • 5:26 pm – A call came in from the Dollar General on South Rossler. A customer put his hand into a bucket in the store, and was stuck by a needle. The customer ended up getting checked out for needle exposure. 
  • 7:17 pm – Police report was filed after a woman says her cell phone was stolen from her cart in Walmart on Walden Avenue. 
  • 8:13 pm – Cleveland Hill firefighters and paramedics from AMR were called to a home on Wilshire Road. Two people were complaining of flu-like symptoms. National Fuel was called out to deal with a possible CO issue. 
  • 8:22 pm – Two women were arrested for shoplifting at the Walden Avenue Walmart. 
  • 9:19 pm – A female employee was arrested at Walden Galleria on larceny charges. 
  • 10:28 pm – A driver who kept flashing high beams on French Road was pulled over by police. Ended up getting arrested due to a warrant out of Buffalo. The person also had a warrant out of Amherst. 
  • 11:17 pm – Police checking out house on Rowland Road. A nurse at Buffalo General says an overdose patient’s husband lives there. The house was empty, and neighbors say no one has lived in the house in weeks.
