CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. – First responders were kept busy throughout the holiday weekend. Here are just some of the calls they went out to.
Friday, September 1: 183 Calls
1:07 am – Police were called to Raymond Avenue. A man had a verbal argument with his girlfriend and left the house earlier in the night. She changed the locks while he was gone. He decided to leave for the night.
2:11 am – A man was found stumbling on William Street. He was taken back to the psych center.
3:29 am – A driver was pulled over on Clinton Street and arrested for driving without a license.
3:36 am – Police were called to Pharaohs on Aero Drive. A man was thrown out of the club and refusing to leave the property. He took off before police arrived.
8:02 am – A police report was filed on Maryvale Drive. A woman found her tires slashed and scratches on her vehicle. She believes it was done by her daughter’s ex-boyfriend.
8:48 am – A woman was advised on E. Mayberry Drive against feeding wildlife after a neighbor called to report the incident.
9:16 am – A police report was filed after a woman stole baby formula and wipes from Rite Aid on Union at George Urban.
10:14 am – A police report was filed after a woman on N. Meadowbrook Parkway said $7,000 was taken out of her account.
11:45 am – A woman complained to police in person about her neighbor on Calla Way. She believes the neighbor sprayed water from a hose into her home after a disagreement about the neighbor’s dog.
1:53 pm – Police were called to Town Hall for 30 people playing Pokemon in front of the building. The clerk’s office was concerned that they were blocking people trying to come and go at Town Hall. The group was advised to stop blocking the sidewalk and staircase.
2:11 pm – Police were called to Keller Chevrolet. A senior woman was at the dealership to buy a car. She comes into the dealership regularly, and they were instructed not to sell her a vehicle because she has dementia. Police brought the woman back to her house.
2:42 pm – A caller on Springfield Drive found a backpack on their property. This is after their vehicle was broken into and change was stolen. A police report was filed.
2:49 pm – Two cars crashed on Cleveland Drive. A woman was checked out by an ambulance crew for a neck injury. She signed off on further treatment.
3:32 pm – A crash report was filed after six cars crashed into each other in the Walmart parking lot.
3:37 pm – A police report was filed after a customer at Hot Dog Heaven was harassing an employee and left a note in a joint for that employee.
4:11 pm – An 11-year-old girl called from around Griffith Park. She said a 15-year-old boy who was playing basketball was harassing her and pinched her butt. The mother called back and said she was going to the park to handle the incident.
5:29 pm – A customer at a store in the Galleria called the police. They were upset that an employee at the store was videotaping her and her family. She left the area before police arrived. The employee said they were just Snapchatting how long the line at the store was.
5:37 pm – A police report was filed after a woman said her wallet was stolen at the Galleria.
6:13 pm – A call came in from the manager of the Sunoco on Genesee Street at Harlem. Two women were asking customers for money in the parking lot. Police arrived and advised the pair to leave the property.
8:49 pm – A call came in from a man on Como Park Boulevard. He was trying to sell shoes on Facebook. The buyer allegedly held a knife to him and stole the shoes. Police caught up with both the victim and the suspect. The property was returned to the caller, and the other man was arrested.
8:54 pm – A police report was filed after a manager reported that an employee of 7-Eleven on Genesee Street stole lotto tickets.
9:34 pm – a young male without an ID was arrested for shoplifting at the Galleria.
9:43 pm – Security at Tops in the Thruway Plaza called. A 16-year-old was left in the store by her father. It turns out the 16-year-old ran away from the father. He came back, and they were both heading back to Tonawanda.
10:54 pm – A driver was pulled over and arrested for narcotics on Doat Street. The driver also had warrants out of Buffalo.
Saturday, September 2: 169 calls
12:25 am – A caller said they saw an underage drinking party on Harlem Road via Facebook Live. The party was advised and shut down for the night.
12:34 am – A call came in from the Galleria about a fight. 12 people outside allegedly jumped a guy. Everyone involved was tracked down by police and advised.
12:59 am – Doyle firefighters and an ambulance crew were called to Pleasant Parkway. A 25-year-old woman was taken to Buffalo General. Two doses of Narcan were given to her before emergency crews were called. A police report was filed.
6:36 am – Rescue Hose firefighters were called out to check an alarm on Lyman Avenue. It turned out to be a faulty detector.
7:47 am – South Line firefighters were called to check out an alarm on Lemans Drive. It turned out to be a faulty detector.
7:50 am – U-Crest firefighters and an ambulance crew were called to the 7-Eleven on Dick Road. A man appeared to have a seizure inside the store. The man left the scene in his vehicle against medical advice.
8:50 am – U-Crest firefighters were called to check out an alarm on Lloyd Drive. It turned out to be a malfunctioning detector.
9:57 am – A customer called from the Walmart parking lot. She said she forgot her change and the other customer behind her took it. A police report was filed.
10:06 am – A mailman called the police. He said a woman ran out of a Kendale Road house saying her husband poured lighter fluid on her. The carrier just wanted to go on with his route and didn’t want to stick around and ask questions. Neither the husband or wife wanted to press charges. A domestic incident report was filed.
10:47 am – A police report was filed after a person said another driver on Walden Avenue threw something metal out of their car, and it damaged the caller’s vehicle. The car in question was found in the Galleria parking lot.
11:24 am – South Line firefighters were called out to Castlewood Drive for a CO detector going off. Elevated levels of carbon monoxide were found in the home. National Fuel was called to the scene, and the house was aired out.
11:44 am – Cleveland Hill firefighters were called to a home on Beach Road for the smell of natural gas. National Fuel was called to the scene to assist.
11:51 am – Rescue Hose firefighters were called to Pet Smart on Walden Avenue for a customer having a seizure in front of the store. The customer was taken to Buffalo General Hospital by ambulance.
1:09 pm – Forks firefighters were called to the Millenium Hotel for a woman possibly having a stroke in the atrium. An ambulance took her to Suburban Hospital.
1:22 pm – Pine Hill firefighters and an ambulance crew were called out to Town Park after a 71-year-old man fell in one of the big tents. He was checked out and signed off on further treatment.
2:12 pm – Two people were taken to St. Joes by ambulance after a crash on Union Road.
2:13 pm – One woman was arrested for shoplifting from the Galleria.
3:12 pm – Sloan firefighters were called out to a tree fire on William Street. A wire started the tree on fire. The utilities were notified about the issue, and the fire was put out.
3:54 pm – U-Crest firefighters and an ambulance crew were called to the cinema at Walden Galleria. A man was having chest pains in one of the theaters. He was taken to ECMC by ambulance.
5:28 pm – Someone found a wallet at the gas station on Union at William. They wanted to return it to the owner. Police took it back to the owner.
6:10 pm – A group of 10 people was spotted fighting in the Dollar Tree plaza parking lot on Harlem Road. Some of the people involved in the fight were holding children. It apparently all started over a parking space. One woman gave someone a dirty look and threatened them with mace. Everyone was advised by police and sent on their way.
6:31 pm – A woman was arrested for shoplifting from Price Rite on Walden Avenue.
7:03 pm – A driver was arrested for driving without a license after being pulled over on the ramp between Broadway and Union Road.
9:15 pm – Some teens were fighting over a phone on Reiman Street. A woman holding a baseball bat said she was tripping on acid and would break heads over the phone. The guys involved in the incident were taken back to their home by police.
10:04 pm – A driver was pulled over and arrested for DWI on Harlem Road.
10:45 pm – A call came in about a group of kids being loud in Wrazen Park. The kids were playing manhunt. They were advised to quiet down by police.
Sunday, September 3: 180 Calls
12:09 am – A police report was filed after four people were fighting outside Tops on Harlem Road. Three employees were checked out by an ambulance crew after the assault.
2:09 am – A call came in from Olcott Place after someone’s son took their car without permission. The son and the car were tracked down within an hour. He was arrested and a domestic incident report was filed.
2:35 am – An 18-year-old girl was taken to St. Joes to be checked out for a head injury. She was drunk and fell on Linda Drive.
4:33 am – A woman was arrested after her ex-boyfriend called the police. He said she was sending his teenage daughter inappropriate messages on Facebook.
7:48 am – A car spun out on the eastbound 33 and hit the jersey barrier. The driver did not have a license. They were issued a summons so they could get medical attention after the crash. The driver was taken to ECMC by ambulance.
12:11 pm – A woman was spotted screaming on Seton Road. She was yelling about Jesus, babies, and puppies. The woman was tracked down on Rosary and advised by police.
12:28 pm – A call came in from Life Storage on Cayuga Road. A man was passed out in a truck since the night before. He was woken up several times but keeps going back to sleep. Police checked it out, and the man was just cleaning out his storage unit.
1:21 pm – A police report was filed for a natural death on Genesee Street.
2:41 pm – A driver was pulled over on Towers Boulevard and was arrested for driving without registration.
3:46 pm – South Line firefighters were called to Haley Lane for a fire alarm. It turns out someone smoking in their bedroom set off the detector.
3:47 pm – South Line firefighters were called to Francine Lane for an alarm. It turned out to be a faulty CO detector.
4:10 pm – Forks firefighters were called to the Galleria to help a woman having a seizure inside a store. She was taken to Mercy Hospital by ambulance.
4:16 pm – A woman was arrested for shoplifting from Home Depot after she was caught concealing merchandise on her 12-year-old son.
4:33 pm – A woman was arrested for shoplifting from Walmart.
4:46 pm – A police report was filed after a woman said she left her wallet at the register at Ollie’s Bargain Outlet and when she went back inside to get it, the wallet was gone.
5:37 pm – A police report was filed after someone lost their wallet at the Galleria.
7:12 pm – A person on Balbach Drive called the police to say they spotted someone climbing in the neighbor’s garage window. The caller knew who broke into the house. (It was another neighbor.) The homeowner came back. Police caught the wannabe burglar, and he was placed under arrest.
8:02 pm – An officer on patrol noticed a group of teens walking into traffic on the 2400 block of Walden Avenue. They were strongly advised.
8:05 pm – A man was arrested for stealing DVDs and shoes from Walmart.
8:33 pm – A driver was pulled over and arrested for DWI near the Thruway Plaza. The driver apparently also hit the curb and a mailbox in West Seneca. Police found damage to the car.
10:27 pm – Police were called to the KFC/Taco Bell parking lot on Transit Road. A man suspected of being drunk was standing in the parking lot for more than an hour. The police advised him.
10:30 pm – A driver was pulled over and charged with DWI on Cleveland Drive.
10:42 pm – A driver was pulled over and arrested for driving without a license on Windwood Court.
Monday, September 4: 166 Calls
12:14 am – A call came in about someone doing construction work on Shanley Street. It turned out the man was bathing his dog. He said he would quiet down.
1:54 am – Someone on Alpine Place thought a person was in their attic. An officer checked out the attic. No one was there.
3:01 am – A man was taken to ECMC for a mental health evaluation after trying to jump from Harlem Road onto the railroad tracks.
6:24 am – South Line firefighters were called to Losson Road. A mother fell down the stairs while holding her 4-month-old infant. The baby was taken to Children’s Hospital to be checked out.
10:55 am – A driver was pulled over and arrested for driving without a license on Genesee Street.
11:37 am – A police report was filed after a man said he dropped his wallet in a Transit Road parking lot and spotted someone else pick it up and drive away with it.
11:55 am – Cleveland Hill firefighters were called out to Beach Road to help shut off a valve to a dryer.
12:24 pm – Pine Hill firefighters were called to Little Angels Daycare to check out a fire alarm. It turns out the detector was set off by spray paint.
1:33 pm – A police report for criminal mischief was filed after someone tried to break into a van along the 2000 block of Walden Avenue.
3:08 pm – The Target store on Walden Avenue called the police to say a man in his 50’s was asking customers for money. When a Target employee asked the man to leave he refused. The man left eight minutes later before police arrived.
3:30 pm – Pine Hill firefighters attended to a lawnmower fire on the 2300 block of Genesee Street.
4:11 pm – A woman at the Thruway Plaza called the police to say her 16-year-old son would not give her bus pass back.
4:14 pm – A resident on Loxley reported that their neighbors were getting drunk and shooting their bow and arrows. The police advised the archers not to shoot their arrows while drunk.
5:18 pm – A silver and blue Trek Mountain bike was found at the end of Strasbourg Drive. The bike was logged into lost property.
6:27 pm – An adult female was arrested for shoplifting at Walden Galleria.
8:42 pm – A young man was arrested for criminal mischief after kicking in a door at a home on Gierlach Street.
9:39 pm – The Kwik Fill on Broadway was robbed by a person wearing a white Halloween mask, hoodie, and black pants. The clerk thought he saw a handgun.
9:49 pm – A 16-year-old on Danbury Drive was arrested after she attacked mom over a tablet and cell phone.
10:21 pm – U-Crest firefighters attended to a lighting strike along the 300 block of Geroge Urban Boulevard.
10:29 pm – A large tree fell across a power line on White Road.
