Buffalo man arrested for trying to boost parts at William Street junk yards

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. – Cheektowaga Police officers patrolling a William Street junk yard Wednesday night made an arrest after a suspect tried to run away.

Assistant Chief of Police Jim Speyer tells Cheektowaga Chronicle that patrol officers were checking on the junk yards around 2060 William Street around 11:00 pm Wednesday because several parts were ripped off at those businesses the past few nights.

“They found this guy in there stealing.  He ended up running from them, and as he ran he hit a fence that was back there.  He got a cut on his forehead and then they had to physically subdue him,” said Assistant Chief of Police Jim Speyer.

Tyrone Sanger, 43, of Bailey Avenue in Buffalo, was arrested and charged with Attempted Petit Larceny, Resisting Arrest, Possession of Burglary Tools and Criminal Trespass.

Mr. Sanger was carrying a flashlight, screwdriver, and a Leatherman type multi-tool.

An ambulance crew from American Medical Response examined Mr. Sanger at the scene but he was not transported to the hospital.
